Using the Cold to my Advantage

It's still cold in Sweden and believe it or not this can be a good thing. On Sunday the frozen ocean provided a solid landing where there is usually water. The idea was to try a couple lines on the Fotö boulder that we couldn't try in the summer (due to getting tired of stacking rocks). In the end we didn't put up any new problems but we did manage to climb despite the torture of warming up in sub-zero temperatures.

The best face of the best boulder on Fotö happens to be hanging over the water. Nothing a little elbow grease can't fix. After hours of lugging rocks on several different occasions we've managed to make much of the steep face climbable, but there's still more work to be done and a few more fa's ripe for the pickin'. I don't recommend going there at high tide.
